Today’s young people are the musicians and concertgoers of the future. The Niagara Symphony Orchestra (NSO) invites youngsters aged 8 to 14 to join the Youth Club for a season of music and exploration. During each NSO concert season, members of the Youth Club participate in at least six events. Members attend three concerts (free of charge) and meet and chat with soloists, visiting artists and members of the orchestra.

Past events have included a “crawl” through a giant pipe organ, backstage tours, a drumming circle, as well as workshops on handbells, steel pan, jazz and guitar and lute construction. The Youth Club participated in a “You-Programme-the-Concert” activity, drafted mini-reviews following concert performances, and were encouraged to share their love of music by inviting a friend to the annual Member-and-Guest concert.

The NSO’s Youth Club was re-established in the fall of 2010 with a membership of 11 youngsters and has subsequently grown each year. Applications are available in September for each upcoming NSO concert season
