The NSO shines a spotlight on the next generation of musicians.  Talented, energetic student ensembles from secondary schools, Brock University’s Department of Music, Ridley College and the Niagara Youth Orchestra, as well as recent graduates just beginning their careers, are invited to perform in the lobby at NSO concerts.  Since its inception in the 2011-12 season, the Spotlight On! initiative has showcased over 30 student ensembles from across the region.  We hope you enjoy this season’s Spotlight On! performances; join the NSO as we celebrate emerging young musicians.

Through the NSO’s Spotlight On! programme, we invite ensembles to perform in the Algoma Lobby, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, for 30 – 40 minutes before an NSO concert, and during the 20-minute interval. Repeats of repertoire are fine, our audience is mobile. Lobby signage will introduce your group to NSO patrons, and students are invited to attend the concert, subject to ticket availability. P

Spotlight On! is popular with the NSO’s audience and offers a great opportunity for students to perform in public. To showcase your students, complete the SPOTLIGHT ON! application and submit to the NSO by email, fax or mail. Contact the NSO’s Education and Outreach Coordinator, Brody Smith, with any questions; complete details can be discussed once an application is reviewed and a date confirmed. We look forward to focusing a SPOTLIGHT ON! your ensemble!
