Originally from North Bay, Ontario, Liam Calhoun began playing the violin at the age of 7, eventually completing a Bachelor of Music in viola performance at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2013 where he studied with Christine Vlajk and other members of the Penderecki String Quartet. He has performed as a soloist with the North Bay Symphony in 2010 as part of their Young Performers competition, played in the WLU Symphony Orchestra as viola section leader under the direction of Paul Pulford, and participated in Canada's National Youth Orchestra program in 2011. A resident of the Niagara area since 2015, Liam is active as a freelance violist, performs pop/rock/jazz/hip hop music on the violin alongside pianist Zach Dekker, and maintains a busy violin and viola teaching schedule. Liam is also an avid arranger, composer, and producer of music, and enjoys a creative output mainly centred around electronic music.
