NSO performs rare piece for Masterworks show

Jan 21, 2016

It feels like winter's just begun, but the Niagara Symphony Orchestra offers a taste of spring with its Jan. 24 show at Partridge Hall.

Soprano Erin Wall will be featured along with music director Bradley Thachuk for the third show of the Masterworks Series, Life's Promise. It will feature a rare performance of Hans Rott's Symphony in E major, which was never performed in his lifetime and didn't surface until 1989.

It will be a passion project for Thachuk, who first heard the piece while working at the HMV superstore in Toronto and decided to join the University of Cincinnati Orchestra, the group which recorded it.
