Big Symphony Show for Young Violinist

Feb 05, 2016

When the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre opened, 12-year-old Ishiro Ogawa’s mom made a prediction: This would be where the St. Catharines violin player would make his professional debut.

Fat chance, he figured. Then about a month ago he got the call. “She was right,” he says.

On Sunday, he’ll perform with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra for its Classical Family concert, Twins and the Monster. Already an eight-year veteran of the violin, Ishiro Ogawa caught the attention of symphony music director Bradley Thachuk last April when he dazzled as a featured soloist during a Niagara Youth Orchestra concert.
